Sent Into Space

This is how we showcased Xiaomi's stylish new Redmi Note 7 in space

In the vibrant tech landscape of the UK, Xiaomi, a brand synonymous with quality and accessibility, embarked on a remarkable journey with the Sent Into Space team. Their mission? To launch the cutting-edge Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 into space, reaching an astonishing altitude of 35,375 meters above the Earth's surface.

This extraordinary event aimed to not only demonstrate the Redmi Note 7's durability and advanced technology but also to showcase its sleek design. Join us as we unravel how we tackled one of our most exciting challenges to date.

A Phone's Triumph in Extreme Conditions

Before our voyage to the stratosphere, we had to address several intricate considerations. The foremost concern was how the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 would withstand the harsh subzero temperatures of space.

To ensure its survival, we insulated the device within a bespoke XPS foam box, tailored precisely to its dimensions. This clever solution kept the phone snug and warm, preserving its functionality even in temperatures as low as -58°C, a testament to the Redmi Note 7's durability.

Executing the launch itself was a complex challenge. It involved the utilisation of a specially designed high-altitude balloon, engineered for this very purpose. Our bespoke spacecraft and high-altitude balloon harnessed the natural buoyancy of hydrogen gas to carry the phone to a staggering 100,000 feet above Earth's surface, all while adhering to the same principles as a weather balloon.

Once off the ground, we were able to use our array of advanced computer systems to relay information back in real time to accurately calculate flight altitude and temperature at any given time during the flight.

A Glimpse of Earth from Near Space

Upon reaching near space, we harnessed the Redmi Note 7's remarkable 48-megapixel camera through a third-party intervalometer app, capturing awe-inspiring images of the Earth's surface. The Redmi Note 7 eventually descended back to Earth, ultimately touching down within 300 meters of our predicted landing area in Gilberdyke, Yorkshire.

Unwavering Battery Life with no Phone Modifications

Throughout the entirety of this extraterrestrial journey, the Redmi Note 7's battery remained resilient. It withstood the extreme temperatures and successfully captured approximately 900 photos. We made no modifications to the phone itself, highlighting its impressive capabilities and Xiaomi's commitment to delivering reliable technology.
