Mission
Take an art exhibition to space in collaboration with Whatshisname and Castle Fine Art
Sculptor and fine artist Whatshisname is known for his playful and provocative art, such as his balloon dog collection inspired by American artist Jeff Koons. In collaboration with Castle Fine Art, Whatshisname decided to elevate his first solo exhibition — physically and symbolically — by launching it into space.
Execution
An array of artworks from Whatshisname's 'POPek' and 'Gone' collections were launched into space on a purpose-built rig, arrayed around a state-of-the-art 360° camera system.
The exhibition was completed over three launches for three curated exhibition 'rooms', with footage of each being shared online and across social media in immersive VR.
The exhibition was a success, with thousands of engagements across social media, and the entire showcased art collection selling out shortly after the exhibition's launch.
