Capitalise on widespread press coverage of ‘Tic Tac-shaped UFO’ sightings by sending a giant Tic Tac to space

For many, a Tic Tac is most recognisable by its distinctive shape. Following sightings of a reportedly ’Tic Tac-shaped’ UFO in the US, Tic Tac wanted to make the most of the buzz and send a scaled up Tic Tac model into space.

EXECUTION

We constructed a bespoke model spacecraft shaped like a huge Tic Tac and suitably named the ‘Intergalactictac’, with an in-built digital display modified to operate in space. Tic Tac followers were invited to submit messages to alien life forms via Tic Tac social media channels.

The Intergalactictac was launched into space with messages from followers showcased on the craft’s display. 100 packs of Tic Tacs joined the Intergalactictac on its journey, making for a limited edition collection of unique space Tic Tacs to be given away to fans following the launch.

Footage of the intergalactictac in space was shared to social media, quickly garnering millions of impressions and coverage from press outlets internationally. The lead up to the launch and the subsequent social media attention increased Tic Tac's social media engagement by over 1000%.
