MISSION

Provide the ultimate drop test for the Samsonite Proxis suitcase

We've all been in a spot of bother with clunky sup-par luggage where rucksack straps, zips, suitcase wheels and handles fail. Its always at the least convenient time, turning the rest of your day into an ergonomic nightmare.

We worked with Samsonite to put their lightweight and rugged Proxis luggage case to harshest of durability tests—giving Samsonite customers full confidence in their luggage.

EXECUTION

To say the least, designing a spacecraft around a suitcase is not an everyday activity. Thankfully the durable yet lightweight design of the Proxis case helped with the process.

Once the spacecraft was given the greenlight from our engineers, the launch team ventured out to our launch site deep in the California Desert with the Samsonite Proxis spacecraft. With final checks complete, the Samsonite Spacecraft was launched, reaching an altitude of over 39 KM, taking in serene views of the Earth from space before our computer systems triggered the drop test.

Plummeting to back to the ground towards our designated drop site, the case reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour before impact. On retrieval, our recovery team found the immaculate Proxis without a scratch in sight. From the resulting footage we worked with Samsonite to create a campaign that reached millions of people, generating a buzz across the globe.
