Create an out-of-this-word whiskey to help Jameson pull off the ultimate prank
Jameson is known for their iconic triple-distilled Irish Whiskey. For April Fool’s Day 2018, we helped Jameson convince followers that they were launching a limited edition ‘space-aged' whiskey by sending a bottle of Jameson to space.
We built a bespoke launch vehicle incorporating Jameson branding and launched a bottle of their flagship whiskey into space. The bottle’s label matched the traditional Jameson design and boasted the whiskey’s ‘space-aged’ quality. We invited the Jameson team to attend the launch and recovery to create an extensive behind-the-scenes documentary to be shared once the true nature of the stunt was revealed.
Further to the hero flight, we also launched a number of cargo flights carrying additional bottles of whiskey into space, which were subsequently distributed to influencers and mixologists at some of the world’s most exclusive clubs, creating a prestige drinking experience to elevate the brand’s reputation as a premium beverage.
The campaign was an instant success, garnering millions of cross-channel views, and even earning the Jameson’s marketing team a personal congratulations from parent company Pernod Ricard.
