Mission
Celebrate 50 years of Iceland with the UK's favourite nugget
Iceland is one of the UK's leading supermarkets, known for their stellar range of frozen foods. To celebrate both their 50th anniversary and their status as the merchant of Britain's favourite chicken nugget, they decided to send one chicken nugget where none had ever gone before: on a mission into space.
Execution
As the biggest retailer of chicken nuggets in the UK, beating Aldi and Tesco’s for the crispy, bite-sized crown, Iceland came to us to launch one of their chicken nuggets into space for their 50th anniversary.
From a site in rural Wales, the nugget travelled through the Earth’s atmosphere to an altitude of 110,000 feet, where it floated in the region known as Near Space. Being a frozen nugget, it was unbothered by the low pressure and the extremely cold temperatures, which drop as low as -65°C!
Footage of the nugget in space was shared on Iceland's social media channels, garnering viral attention and quickly receiving international press coverage.
